Digital Content Producer
Sept 2023 – Present
Each day brings a dynamic mix of tasks, starting with updating NewsNation's digital platforms, including the website, app, email, and social media channels, with breaking news and daily topics. I'm continuously brainstorming and pitching story ideas, aiming to develop multiple angles on a single news topic, all while adhering to our mission of unbiased reporting. Creating digital-first content and original reporting is another key responsibility, differentiating our brand from competitors. I also focus on optimizing audience engagement by packaging content effectively and leveraging data to make informed content decisions. Lastly, I ensure our content reaches a wider audience by clipping broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels while implementing SEO best practices.

My responsibilities included finding sources, conducting pre-interviews, summarizing legal documents, and fact-checking information to ensure the accuracy and reliability of investigative reports. I developed strong multitasking skills by effectively managing and prioritizing multiple moving stories at once. Additionally, I am proficient in utilizing tools such as Stratus, PACER, and iNews for data analysis, research, and managing news content. Analyzed financial and corporate data using tools like Excel, uncovering trends and anomalies to support investigative reporting. My experience as a CNBC Investigative Unit Intern has provided me with valuable skills in scriptwriting, multitasking, fact-checking, data analysis, news judgment, interviewing, and research.

As part of the Consumer Investigative Unit of the I-Team, I responded to viewers who needed help or felt as though they had been ripped off or wronged. The I-Team looks for patterns of complaints attached to certain companies to warn other viewers. I also alerted viewers to data and privacy concerns and found stories that had broad warnings, which can help improve people’s everyday lives. I also looked into stories through research and the use of the Freedom of Information Act to uncover wrongdoing and problems which affect consumer’s pocketbooks.
